Loved it! I'll be back for more lunches! Bulalo and Sinigang for sure!#
Apparently Symphonie has been open for 12 years! I'm so out of the loop when it comes to Filipino food. Thankfully I follow @fmedeats :-)#
I confused Symphonie with Herb and Spice which was also in the "financial district" & also had Filipino food which I visited before the Pandemic.#
Please support your favourite small non mainstream restaurant even if it isn't Filipino :-)#

We also went to Chef Cong Cong in President Plaza and got takeout Spicy Beef noodles and learned again that folks of Chinese heritage in Richmond are now mostly Mandarin speakers, not Cantonese speakers?!?#

Hilariously the person there said he doesn't speak English.#
So Barb who doesn't really speak Mandarin switched to her rudimentary Mandarin she learned during a high school Mandarin camp in Taiwan, the so called "Loveboat" :-)#
And she was able to order!#
Back in 2001 when I worked in Richmond and ate at a lot of Chinese restaurants it was the reverse. Most folks at Chinese restaurants spoke Cantonese not Mandarin!#
Things certainly have changed. (I knew this intellectually but never have experienced this linguistic shift in Richmond!). #
I have no skin in this linguistic "game" :-) Other than loving all food especially Chinese food and being super interested in all human languages.#

For Barb's birthday week we went to Richmond and get her a cake from https://littlefoxbakehouse.com/ Highly recommended!! We know the baker Eric who used to operate Sate in East Van a 5 minute walk from us.#

We also purchased their delicious croissants and my fav, Eric's bread pudding!#
East Van misses you chef Eric!#

1 Torta Ahogada plus 2 deep fried bean tacos for $22. Also delicious.#

Enjoyed delicious lunch takeout from Pampanga's Cuisine 2nd location at 6094 Fraser Street just north of 45th!#

For my niece at UBC, I got her favourite: Arroz Caldo (which in Pamapanga is called `lelut manok`)#
For us I got Brazo de Mercedes (a type of rolled cake (sometimes referred to as jelly roll) made from a sheet of soft meringue with custard filling. Spanish empire food?))#
And Pancit Palabok<-- I love all Filipino noodle dishes!#

Today at the Trout Lake Farmers' market, we enjoyed Shameless Buns Sausage Party $16 with their famous sinigang fries, highly recommended as is all their stuf!#

I wish their restaurant would serve sinigang "traditional" ie. stew format instead of in a sandwich or french fry format.#
Same with their delicious adobo!#
One can dream can't one :-) ?#

shiok.ca is our favourite asian takeout of the pandemic! fun for the whole family :-) ! highly recommended! 9 minute bicycle ride from our place in East Van. Singaporean yum!#

Tonight we had fish soup with noodles! Perhaps an acquired taste? Perhaps not? I grew up with fish soup but not as tasty as this :-) #ymmv#
Roti Canai er Prata :-) , always delicious!#
Beef Rendang! Yay!#
And all their desserts are great. Pandan Chiffon cake etc!#
"Auntie" :-) said lots of takeout not much dine in.#
They are at Kingsway and Miller and open 11am-8pm Tuesday to Saturday#
Everything is great. Highly recommended!#

Prototype Coffee is one of the best cafes in the city with the best coffee since they brew the coffee they roast onsite #

And their waffle doughnuts are amazing. Coffee and doughnuts highly recommended!#
Today I had the Sour orange doughnut plus an amazing pourover coffee from Ethiopia I think (they are all good!)#
Go to Prototype at 883 East Hastings! You won't regret it! #

Enjoyed lelut manok er arroz caldo! So good! $8.50#
And also Beef Picadillo $11.95 which was beef cut into strips with green mustard in tamarind soup base which was sinigang-mäßig i.e. sour and good! #
I think @dale42 and I went there with Joie and Fernando and recorded an Over 40 in Vancovuer podcast pre pandemic (which audioboom deleted since we didn't pay?!?)#

18April2022 Hammerhead Karoo 2 thoughts part 2 (this is not a review, don't tell the Hammerhead folks yet :-) , I guess I will write a review eventually!)#

Turn by turn works with a separate Bluetooth speaker#
But it isn't as good as Garmin's implementation. Instead of saying "In 100 metres turn right", it just says "Turn right" and you have to look at the screen to know how many metres you have to go before actually turning right. #
I assume this is a known bug which Hammerhead will fix?!?#
The Karoo 2 missed two roundabouts on Woodland northbound.#
The roundabout implementation didn't make sense to me. It says correctly "Take the 2nd exit" but when you get to the round about it says "turn right". Turn right is technically true but confusing.#
Just saying something like "Take the 2nd exit to go straight" instead of turning right would be fine!#
The Karoo 2 like the Garmin has a bug where the navigation software gets disoriented in Gastown at the beginning of a ride. They both tell you turn left at Hastings which is a dangerous turn and is not on the route.#
The Karoo 2 like the Garmin eventually magically fixes itself after few hundred metres or so.#
Someday I'll find the official Karoo 2 support forum and post this stuff there (if not fixed by then).#

17April2022 Hammerhead Karoo 2 thoughts part 1 (this is not a review, don't tell the Hammerhead folks yet :-) , I guess I will write a review eventually!)#

Android is much better than whatever embedded OS Garmin runs.#
Currently Karoo 2 boot time is longer than it used to be?#
A missing feature from the Garmin is the 1 line display of the next cross street. Perhaps it is there and I missed it. Perhaps it is in their roadmap which I also missed?!? #
I haven't tested the turn by turn instructions because unlike Garmin it requires a Bluetooth speaker?!? Which means I would have to carrry two bluetooth speakers on my bicycle; one for the iPhone music and one for the Karoo 2 (or use a Bluetooth headset for the Karoo 2?#
