It doesn't feel like there are many good
pitching acquisition options for the Cubs. A problem I have with Jed Hoyer is that he has been to reliant on the in-season trade deadline and a "wait and see" approach rather than building up a roster that can win a championship during the off season. Chances of signing the talent you need at the price you want is better during the offseason rather than during the season when you have less leverage. Selling teams know buyers really need something and therefore are going to demand more.
