  • I bought the Boox Go 7 back in May for $249 and since then I've been trying to use it as my primary reading tablet. A summary of my opinion on it now is that I got what I paid for, it does not perform exceedingly well so fortunately I did not spent a lot for it. I think for me the main issue comes down to the touch screen, which doesn't work consistently I think mostly due to how it recognizes a touch. Often it doesn't recognize my thumb while it nearly always recognizes other fingers, which is most likely due to how the software handles palm rejection, and that makes typing difficult.#
  • The most frustrating thing about the Go 7 is that it senses touches along the edges frame of the display that result in unexpected page turns in the Kindle app. It is not good to have to be so conscious about how I am holding and touching the tablet. I wish there was a way to configure the Kindle app to only recognize the physical buttons for turning pages, but I have not found a way to do it. #
  • I use the Readwise Reader app for reading articles in my RSS feeds that I want to read and I am now starting to encounter an issue with the 4 GB of RAM in the Go 7 causing the app to take longer to load on it than with other tablets. I assume the Reader loads up the list of articles in memory. The app also has problems keeping track of the location when using page scrolling in articles, it basically doesn't keep up all the time so often when tap on a word to start highlighting the app scrolls up to a prior location. My work around is to tap and hold first, then start selecting text to highlight. #
  • I notice that Boox is now selling the Palma 2 for the same $249 that I paid for the Go 7 and it has 6 GB of RAM suggesting it might perform better than the Go 7. I am now beginning to wonder whether should have got the Palma 2 rather than the Go 7, though I don't know how I would like the smaller screen. #
