I bought an AM PM pill box for my medications. I'm officially old.

We ordered a faucet from Home Depot on Friday. They said it would arrive on Thursday. It unexpectedly showed up at our door yesterday. I just got a notification saying it has shipped and will arrive on Thursday 🤔 Is this the opposite of whatever supply chain crisis is going on?
#
Wife mused on what would be a great thing to buy. Turns out it was my Christmas gift for her. I was afraid she would just go out and buy it (we are like that only) so had to spill the beans.

Hate that NBC is not consistent with what they show on Peacock. I signed on specifically to follow EPL and support Liverpool (don't ask why. Salah and perhaps Beatles?) But not all Liverpool games are on Peacock. It makes it hard to follow.

Done with my sixth Communication Excellence Night speech at the Blank Center for Stuttering Education and Research. I think it went great although I was the first person after 20 cool kids who gave some excellent presentations. A hard act to follow!

Listening to Hidden Brain's Deep Work episode with Cal Newport, I realized that my current role may not be suited for 'deep work' as even Cal mentioned as an exception. That makes me feel better because I don't mind the kind of work I do now.

Our COVID tests for the Canada trip came back negative! We are all set for our short vacation to a foreign country in nearly 10 years!
#
My lil cousin turns 33 today. That makes me feel super old as I still remember being there when she was born. One regret from my inability to travel during my immigration limbo was missing her wedding in India couple of years ago.

Installing an Ecobee thermostat has been working out great for our home. Notice a 4ºF difference in our TV Room downstairs compared to the bedrooms upstairs. It is perfect for adjusting it depending on when we use those rooms and have started noticing it in our power usage.
#
Whatay a fantastic second semi-final too! Never has there been a starker difference between a bowler's first and last over than Afridi's. Kudos to Australia for pulling it off. Now rooting for the Kiwis in the final 🏏

This T20 World is Pakistan's and England's to lose. Both have played consistently well after being tested by their opponents.
#
Man, what heartbreak for Afghanistan! But phenomenal hitting by Asif Ali. Pakistan is going all the way but Afghanistan is my new favorite team
#
My first COVID scare. I met with an ex-colleague who was fully vaccinated and she even got her booster couple of days later. She tested positive on Monday. We met for an hour but were always outdoors. So far, I feel fine and fingers crossed that I continue to.

Flickr Pro annual subscription is now $63.95? I've paid $24.95 in the past. I guess I still like the service enough to keep it. Since 2005.

Thanks to the new Shortcuts app in macOS Monterey, I managed to get the
Import Images to Dropbox for Blot shortcut working on the Mac. Earlier, even if I wrote my post on the Mac, I used my phone to insert images and post to Blot. So this will eliminate the need for a phone. In addition, now there's a desktop app for Grammarly on the Mac, so you don't have to use the Grammarly keyboard on iOS to check before posting either.

Don't tell my boss but working from home lets me play the T20 World Cup on a second screen while I work. Namibia has been quite a surprise for me. First time seeing them play and they're good

If the
Drummer - Micro.blog techies are looking for something else to tinker with, may I suggest a way to know the character count on a
Drummer post so we can know whether it will be posted in full or via a link?

The Pak-NZ match is shaping out to be a thrilling one. The Kiwis are fighting back after a lowish total, and I had expected Pakistan to run away 🏏
#
I nearly forgot about Universal Control. I have my work MacBook Pro lying closed next to my iMac so maybe now I can control both with the same keyboard and trackpad at the same time. But "available later this fall" 😐
#
Upgraded to macOS Monterey. And look at that. Safari is back to its good 'ol self (although Apple still says -
Explore a redesigned Safari.) I can ever drag and rearrange my tabs. I hear Shortcuts is also included. I'll have to dig into that later. What else?

Today, I saw an India-Pakistan cricket match after ages. Unfortunately, for the sport, India no longer plays Pakistan unless it's an international tournament due to political reasons. Honestly, it's the cricket fans' loss since both countries are packed with talent that can't play each other and we're worse off. Thus, the World Cup is one of the rare times India and Pakistan meet. Although tensions run high, it makes for an interesting and competitive contest 🏏
#
Also, India has never lost to Pakistan in a World Cup match be it a ODI or T20. I'm not exactly how sure the streak has lasted given the likes of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram, Javed Miandad, and Misbah-ul-Haq in their ranks so this loss although it rankles has been a long time coming. Also, you feel less bad because the win was so absolute and comprehensive that India has no excuse. Congrats, Pakistan 🏏

I agree with almost all of the pros and cons from
Drummer%20Notes">Jack’s notes on
Drummer. It still is a big pain on the phone. It does make you appreciate Micro.blog’s ease of posting.

Sigh! I thought thanks to T20, West Indies was seeing a resurgence in their cricketing fates.

Austin is back to Stage 2 (for COVID). We're thinking of dining indoors at our local neighborhood Mexican restaurant tonight. Looking forward to their yummy Molcajeté

Getting excited for our trip to Toronto to meet my brother and his family! We'll be meeting after 5 years!

Selena Gomez has quite the following online. I merely made a tweet saying how I like
Only Murders in the Building and how she belongs in the same frame as two stalwarts. That tweet now has 6 Retweets and 43 Likes. How? Why?
#
Given Google's spotty record with supporting their flagship phones, do Android users who prefer a quality smartphone get just as excited with a Pixel release as we do with iPhones?

Colin Powell has a complicated legacy. His stint as a Secretary of State, although the highest and perhaps the most prestigious office he held, was the blot on his cherished legacy. He did redeem himself when he endorsed Obama in 2008 and was prescient enough to see GOP looming sharp rightward tilt.

It's next to impossible to select text to copy-paste once you have posted it in
Drummer. You can select one word but not multiple words. This makes the reorganization of your outline very difficult. BTW the Links have stopped working again.

We tried out a new good service,
Shef that's best described as a Uber for home cooks. You plug in your zip code and see home cooks that can deliver a set of dishes to your doorstep. You get all kinds of cuisine but we were mostly interested in regional Indian cuisines like Maharashtrian or Oriya since we have fallen out of the habit of cooking it. So we tried out a "shef" and had
saabodanchi kichadi and
pooran poli for breakfast today. Did not disappoint.

The drivers' license is now renewed using my new Green Card. It’s now valid for the next 8 years; the longest I’ve got it for (earlier was tied to our visa which was never more than 3-5 years).
#
Hopefully next time I’ll renew online as a citizen.

We watched
Titanic after a long time. Mainly we wanted our 10-year-old son to see it. We agonized over whether it was appropriate because of that portrait scene followed by the ‘steamy’ scene. Ultimately we decided to watch it and let him walk away for the portrait scene. He’s usually fine with closing his eyes if we ask him to. We are fine with mild sex scenes and are mostly concerned about gore, violence, and appropriate language that smacks of sexism and racism. Without context and nuance, those can be difficult to comprehend for a young mind.
#
Updating this on the phone is a pain. First, it doesn’t seem to be adapted for webview. I couldn’t even see the Twitter sign-on in portrait mode. Once we do that in the landscape mode, it still makes for an unfriendly interface.

Walking around the neighborhood in mid October always makes me wonder how unique Halloween is among the various American holidays. Horror has a niche audience in the U.S. but come Halloween, you will see every other house display what would be other wise considered grotesque objects in their front yard. But then Easter also has been more about pagan rituals than what they claim it is about.

The first thing that comes to my mind when I say
Drummer#
- The Glossary feature looks useful. I may have to dig into it a bit to fully understand its utility as I perceive it.#
- Update: Now using Glossary to replace text with hyperlinked text e.g. for Drummer. If that word is hyperlinked, it is working. This paragraph is also indented to show a sub-item for the above item. It may also be used to provide an update by adding the text Update: #
- The only hitch right now I see in using Drummer is having a handy list of attributes to use in an item. E.g. inserting an image. #
- Added a shortcut for rebuilding the blog using the icon bar instructions.#
- Figuring out how to title a section. Anything below a date item can be a post but if it has sub-items below it, that line can be what bloggers call a title of the post.#
- Tried out embedding an inline images. Slightly trickier compared to hyperlinking a text.#
Using this self-shot wonderful image from Rainier National Park as my header image.
#
Ok, ok, I guess I will give
Drummer a try mainly because I'm exploring the "outliner" form of blogging or rather note-taking.
