Yesterday was Columbus Day to some, Indigenous Peoples' Day for others. One celebrates exploration that led to the rise of Western civilization, the other mourns the direct and collateral damage. Both are important enough to celebrate, but they each deserve their own holidays, no? Just call it Vespucci day if you want to avoid unpleasant conversations, but then also rename your capital district to something less controversial, like District of Vespuccia.#- Needless to say, I am just a visitor from the Eastern backwaters and have no horse in the race. Do as you please, Vespuccians.#
