Modern tools for activism in place?#
  • One of these categories is called Tools, but all of these essential elements of activism that hopes to have a chance for success might need new tools or upgrades of tools we already use.#
    • Knowledge#
      • Build and locate, share, preserve, deliberate with others#
    • Attitudes#
      • Curiosity, persistence, courage, moral fiber, openness, respect for necessary partnerships and traditions and institutions, willingness to deliberate with others#
    • Skills#
      • Knowledge skills, introspection about personal and group traits, good with tools, able to stretch and learn, partnership skills, able to be strategic about institutions, communication skills, persuasion, focus#
    • Tools#
      • Research, solidarity tools, communication tools, institutional and inter-group tools and methods#
    • Partnerships#
      • Know the necessary value of affiliations, how to build and maintain partnerships, how to amplify and extend the reach of voices through wider circles of partnerships#
    • Institutions#
      • Locate the healthiest institutions and work there, protect them, challenge the hollowed-out or calcified or captured institutions#
    • Reach#
      • Essential element of communication that must always be a goal or otherwise there is no reason for opponents to fear your activism#
    • Staying power#
      • Essential element of activism that must always be there or otherwise there is no reason for opponents to fear your activism#
  • Without some strength in each of these eight categories, activism has not much chance of success. Historical episodes back up this point.#
