- It's always special to see history repeating. Again, with Drummer and some of the Indieweb building blocks, it should be possible to both send and receive webmentions. Telegraph.io is a nice service to act as an intermediairy for the transport of webmentions in both ways. Even receiving webmentions on this blog should be possible. You can use Telegraph to receive Webmentions when your site is linked to by any website tracked by Superfeedr, even if that site doesn't send Webmentions itself! #

Whoop! Nieuwe update! Om de een of andere reden werkt de combinatie Webmentions en eigen domein nog niet helemaal lekker. Toen ik bij Telegraph de URL http://frankmeeuwsen.xyz/2021/10/19.html gaf als bron, kreeg ik een foutmelding. Daar zou geen link zijn naar mijn Digging the Digital blog. #
Maar als ik de link aanpas naar http://oldschool.scripting.com/frankmeeuwsen/2021/10/19.html dan werkt het ineens wel prima!#
Wow. Dus het werkt. Nu zou het nog mooi zijn om met de Scripting taal in Drummer automatisch webmentions te sturen naar Telegraph als ik iets publiceer. Het ontvangen van webmentions vereist wat meer denkwerk. Want daar heb ik op deze site minimaal een webmention endpoint nodig. En die heb ik niet. En ik heb nog geen idee hoe ik die zou kunnen krijgen. #
- Het is altijd goed om te testen of ik webmentions kan versturen vanaf hier naar mijn eigen site, via een service als Telegraph. Door na publicatie deze permalink te knopen aan een link op mijn eigen blog. Eens zien wat er gebeurt...#
- Nou... niets dus. Ik krijg een foutmelding van Telegraph dat op de Permalink geen link naar mijn eigen site is te vinden. Ugh. Laat maar. #
So actually one of the most interesting technologies coming from the Indieweb community is the Webmention. In it's most simplest terms, it is a way of alerting other writers you have linked to them through the use of a simple protocol. It is even possible to create conversations on multiple domains. Without the need to be on one silo, say Facebook or Twitter. We can all communicate through our own domains and blogs. To me it feels like OPML and Drummer is an ideal candidate for the use of webmentions instead of plain old comments. When I link to another Drummer blog, it could be alerted through an Instant Outliner in it's own CMS. It can link back to the original, show the link, do whatever is necessary with it. Webmentions and (instant) Outliners feel like a natural fit. But I am not tech-savvy enough to build the connections myself. #- The interesting part is not only to find the community on Drummer blogs, but expand beyond that. I could link to my own blog and have it send a Webmention. So I can link back from my blog to this post automatically. Drummer could support webmentions from it's core or maybe through the use of some scripting and OPML headers. Again, I am not quite sure what is possible, but since there are more people on Drummer blogs that are familiar with the Indieweb buildingblocks, maybe we can build some more? #

Are there actually more Dutch Drummer bloggers? The community that publishes on the Oldskool Scripting server (proxy source) is growing but it looks like it's most US based? I am always curious for other Drummer bloggers from the lowlands! #
