- Still reading about marketing, trying to link it to ideas about activism. To have a chance to be successful as active citizens, to create public voices with reach and staying power, which therefore politicians and the wealthy can't easily ignore, which many of them otherwise love to do, activists needs a knowable set of skills and tools, a body of knowledge of society and human nature, a network of friends and allies, in the context of at least somewhat healthy civic institutions and customs. We could elaborate on each of these elements with the help of the right experts in such things as political science, organizing, etc.#
- Hunch: If we'd go ahead and make a much more specific account of these items, which I'd call the toolkit of active citizenship, and compared to the toolkit provided by a social media platform such as Twitter, we should be able to say with some precision what's missing in the product if the product is ever going to serve rather than thwart or distract us from the needs of democracy.#
