- Supposedly Google knows all about me, knows too much about me. Probably true. But here's my question:#
- Why are Google's hunches about me so dumb?#
- Why do I say this? Because of the thirteen web links Google has chosen for me on the Google home page just now, almost none of them are good guesses about my interests. The algorithm seems to have rocks in its head. They offer me:#
- Indiana people and Hollywood types behaving badly#
- Nearby slot machines paying off big#
- Sad stuff from regional and national police blotters#
- Puff piece about a nearby Halloween theme park#
- PR piece from that university across town#
- Shortage of school bus drivers in a state a thousand miles from here#
- Wacky things found in an alligator's stomach#
- Unreadable news on an ad-riddled news site#
- Two out-of-the-blue science stories#
- If you're going to haunt us with your algorithm, dudes, please write a better algorithm.#
