Joyce Simms. Oh no. I missed this news yesterday. Only 63 as well. All in All and Come Into My Life are classics. I really shouldn't have been listening to them as an indie teenager living out in the sticks. But they were both very important records for me. A fantastic voice with great production.#
Album of the Day: Amy Winehouse - Back to Black#
I really didn't want to play this again. It's one of those albums that you know inside out. It's in danger of spoiling the enjoyment through over familiarity. Abbey Road, Dark Side, Nevermind etc. I always skip Rehab anyway. No joke intended. Instead I tried to find something new here today. I played it on the AirPods, listening out for anything I've missed. There was the odd guitar riff buried deep in the mix. But it comes back to the songs and the voice. And for those reasons alone this has to be a five star album.#

🌳 I made a start on reading the Daniel Taylor Athletic long read on Marinakas and his ownership of Forest. I say long read - BOY, it's a long, long read. It clocks in at over 9k words. The intro alone would fit into the space The Graun would normally set aside for a profile piece. I've got a little lost already in all the Greek politics.#
🏊♂️ The first swim of the new week was delayed until late afternoon. It was still warm as I cycled off just after 3pm. I stopped off briefly for some hit and miss Insta snaps down by the Hythe. A mad dog on one of the house boats took an interest in my luminous cycling gear and went off on one.#
To my surprise I managed to bloke it up with my banter in the changing room. I hate banter, and I'm not exactly your average bloke either. But I can hold my own, so to speak. There's a HUGE head nod in there as to the direction all the BANTZ went in.#
It was absolute bliss in the pool. I had the entire pool to myself. I made the decision to concentrate on the length of my strokes, rather than the speed or power. It paid off. I managed a 16'30" time for the 800m.#
🎵 The eBay emails threw up a vinyl copy of Malcolm McLaren's Would Ya Like More Scratchin' album. It's basically a Duck Rock remix / cash in. I put in a very cheeky offer. The refusal pinged back within seconds. If you don't ask...#
📻 Early evening was spent listening to the Forest fallout on BBC Nottingham. It wasn't pleasant to here. It's a real wake up call from how we have gone from riding the Wembley wave to being in a horrid, horrid relegation scrap in under five months.#
The political and economic news coming out of Westminster today was light-hearted in comparison.#
