Album of the Day: Slint - Spiderland#
This album was new to me. I don't think I've missed out on much over the past 30 odd years. The vocals were far too low in the mix. I liked the atmosphere, but found found the mumblings a distraction. I wanted more emotion. JUST SPIT IT OUT, man. He did, but not until the final track.

Up early on Thursday morning. Very early. I was watching the playful cat in the back garden whilst waiting for the kettle to boil for the first cup of tea of the day. Except it wasn't the playful cat. It was an urban fox. My eyesight is shocking 👀

I was actually a little ahead of time for my departure for the lido. I ponced around in the flat, trying different clothes combinations. I settled on a waistcoat. The cravat got a look in, but I didn't feel quite that brave ahead of a school day.
#
The lido was perfect. Just PERFECT. It was the ideal conditions with the water temperature, the sun and plenty of space across the lanes. The summer crowd are dwindling. Soon we will be left with the purity of the Icicles. Disclaimer: I'm not winter swimming this season. Tattoo addiction, innit.

It was an OK day over in the SW9 school. I enjoyed the Enterprise lesson. The students learn practical creative skills along with an understanding of how to market their product. It's always all about the product. Teach them young.
#
I headed down to the food tech space and had fun with the younger students who were learning how to crack eggs. I was also an eager not so young learner.
#
I caught an old photo of myself on the staff noticeboard. Gosh. I've dropped two stone in weight since then. I hardly recognised myself.
#
The school day finished with After School Clubs. A new addition this term is Table Tennis Club. ACE! We're still waiting back in the bloody Estuary Wilds for the public outdoor Table of Dreams to be repaired after some little shits set it alight. Thankfully back in SW9 and the young folk appreciate playing table tennis rather than playing at being arsonists.

It was a weird His 'n' Hers day with A also being in South London. She had made the journey in to see Surrey clinch the County Championship at The Oval. I followed events online, a couple of miles down the road. I enjoyed being in school, but was rather jealous of A and her Surrey day out in the sun.
#
I had to head back to the bloody Estuary Wilds for cat duties. I cycled past The Oval but there was no sign of A. I let out a congratulatory "SURREY! SURREY! SURREY!" outside the tube.
#
I was carrying far too much in my front and rear Brompton bags. I tried to take it easy all the way up to LS, fearful of punctures or losing some spokes. Somehow I got away with it. The Cost of Living shit means that any trip to South London now ends up with a Brompton bag stuffed full of cheapo Lidl cheese and yoghurt.
#
There was a rather odd woman tailing me from Elephant all the way over to LS. She rang her bicycle bell at every junction, even when the lights were green. She was also cycling whilst wearing her AirPods. Never a good move.
#
I caught up with a little admin on the train. The People's Audit sent over an embargoed copy of their latest report. It's not for publication until Monday morning. I'm struggling to do it justice with a Buzz piece as I have other work commitments over the weekend. It's been a real struggle to find Buzz time of late.
#
Back at the other end of the train line and I was met by two very hungry cats. Daisy is always hungry; Dotty had some food left out for her by A earlier in the morning. She hadn't found it as it had been hidden away from Daisy. Silly Dotty.
#
I continued with my current Pistols / Malcolm McLaren obsession. I fired up Alexa and got her to play the top songs by Malc. He has quite back catalogue from Duck Rock through to Fans. History should come down in favour of his side of the story, rather than the Pistols. Controversial, Jase. Controversial.

tbh I could have selected any of the tracks off the 1,000 Volts album. But Mr Bojangles gets the nod as it trumps all over versions of the song. Yep, even Nina Simone's. Released as a single on the mighty Trojan label in 1973, this is pure class 🔥🔥
