Someone posted to micro.blog that Mastodon is the new Google Reader, which I disagree with. As far as I can tell,
FeedLand is the new Google Reader.
FeedLand makes discovering and managing RSS subscriptions easier, but to get that benefit you need to rely on Dave's platform. River5 can be entirely self hosted and self managed.

Today is the first day since it became available to me that I am using
FeedLand on a desktop, and I am comparing it with my instance of River5. I don't know how long a item remains in the
FeedLand river.
