Shut Up and Show More Football - the re-branded Forest podcast form BBC Nottingham - was my early morning listening of choice. The conversation reflected on Steve Cooper's first year in charge at The World Famous City Ground. Let's hope it's not something of a footballing obituary in a few weeks time.

I had no hesitation in reaching for the thick cycling tights ahead of the bicycle ride to the pool. The autumn Equinox is now upon us, and so is the comfort of my full on retro tights around my legs. I had to navigate various spider webs getting down the garden and towards the shed.

This was my first ride through the bottom of the town and along the Trail in almost a week. The funeral parlour at the foot of the town has had some Convenience Store signs appearing in the past week. Death sells. But not that well around these Estuary Wilds parts it seems.

There was mist rolling in across the Muddy Banks of the Colne as I headed towards the Hythe. A couple of magpies crossed my path down towards the University end. Neil Warnock use to claim that if he saw one magpie whilst commuting, he would carry on until he saw a second to bring Notts County good luck. I don't think Neil Warnock cycled to Meadow Lane, but it's a nice story.

The pool temperature read a balmy 26 degrees. I was putting in the lengths in an 18 degrees unheated pool 24 hours earlier. One of the regulars commented this morning: "It's bloody freezing." I kept my thoughts to myself.

It was a relaxed swim. I didn't have the desire to press on for a sub 17 minutes for the 800m. I actually added an extra 200m to clock up the 1km.

I noticed that the leaves of the sticky thing along the side of the house have started to turn in hue as I arrived home. This transition is usually sudden. I've deliberately kept the sticky thing at waist height all summer. Any taller and it just topples over. I'm still excited about the red autumnal colour show that I can expect in a couple of weeks.

Work was all about a sim. I took on a different task today, guiding the team role players. I quite enjoyed it. They did a decent job. The front office darkened with rain expected. It was quite a ghostly moment.

There was the return of Robert Elms on BBC Radio London after his latest jolly. He dropped some absolute old time bangers. All the Young Dudes sounded ACE.

I messed around a little with IFTTT. I've got an old applet running that use to post a tumbl pic each time I tweeted a snap of the Trail on the old WeirdWiv Forum account. The old WW Forum Twitter account has long since departed the modern interweb. But I still post a pic from my Insta account whenever I'm around.

I had the idea of setting up an IFTTT applet linking Insta to tumblr. The logins got very confusing. I have around half a dozen various tumblr accounts. I got there eventually, but I'm unsure if it will work.

The Postman Delivers: The Travelling Wilburys CD. I should have bought this 34 years ago. Gosh. It's one of those albums that has always been on the back of my mind to pick up. It's hardly the cutting edge of cool, but there's something about that Jeff Lynne production that I love. It's the same sound on Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever and George's Cloud 9. And The Beatles / Threatles Anthology add ons.

Dotty was out all day. Dotty is a worry. I wouldn't be too concerned if this was peak summer. But it was rather chilled out there all day. She eventually strolled up around 4pm, asked for some food and then went straight to bed. That girl has fun.

We watched the England t20 Vs Pakistan early evening. It was a proud Surrey moment seeing Will Jacks making his international debut. The symbolism was clear: he's not been passed the baton from J-Roy in the short form of the gam; he's grabbed it out of the hands of his Surrey team mate and hasn't looked back since.
