To Ipswich! ...early on Thursday morning. The plan was to cycle through the Suffolk back lanes, beat the rush hour traffic, then return a couple of hours later with two new electric bikes. Chapeau! The end game was achieved, but the lead up to this got a little lost. It was a chilled morning as we rolled out. This was the first morning of the season wearing long sleeve lycra. The traffic was bloody awful around Elmstead Market. Soon we were on the outskirts of Suffolk and the sun started to shine through.

Our route was plotted with the Beeline Velo 2 GPS. It took us in the direction of the familiar Dedham roll out. But then the Beeline ballsed up. It tried to send us on some fictional paths just outside of Deadham. Auto-routing just led us to go round and round in circles. I called it quits when the road bikes were told by the Beeline to cycle down a country track. No ta.

My enthusiasm was waning. We were on a nightmare ride, with the aim of buying bicycles that would enable to ride on even longer nightmare rides. I played a cat and mouse game waiting for A. My frustration led me to put my foot down. The consequence was that I had to wait the poor girl at every junction. I was slightly hot and bothered when one of these included a 12% standing hill start.

We eventually arrived at Ipswich. At least the Beeline was able to deliver us door to door to the Raleigh stockist on the outskirts of the town. We wasted no time. We had came here to buy a couple of specific electric bicycles. We bought the specific electric bicycles. Bish, bash, bosh. Chapeau!

The man in the shop didn't give us the hard sell. He was very helpful under pressure from all the random and obscure questions we fired at him. The test rides around the nearby Sainsbury car park was hardly Grand Tour Col territory. It was enough o seal the deal. The bicycles are being delivered later next month.

The last time we were both in Ipswich was for a Court appearance. Buying the bicycles was a celebration now that all that shit is behind us. We caught the train home, rather than risk being thrown off route by the Beeline again.

I was booked in for the Thursday afternoon social row with
WivGigs. It was a delicate launch with a fast moving tide and a slight breeze to try and overcome. We had a chatty crew as we rowed off downstream. The high water had threatened a closure of the barrier. We didn't want to be stuck on the other side looking stranded and a little silly. We had plans to row as far downstream as possible. We made it past the Creek, but the threatening skies above got us a little jittery. We made our way back towards the Rowing Club and glorious Estuary Wilds sunshine. Cleaning up Audacity after the row was a little like cleaning up after a dirty protest. I had some slight context confusion walking home. Some of the old boys from the pool were heading towards the Colne Social Club. I didn't recognise them with their clothes on, etc.

Album of the Day: The Prodigy - Music For The Jilted Generation#
You can't fault the beats, but the album didn't really take me anywhere. You probably need to be buzzing off your tits to truly appreciate this. It was a half decent soundtrack whilst watching the football with the volume turned down. Fuck 'em and Their Law pricked up my interest slightly.
